Alice's Restaurant - Canonsburg
About This Spot
Stepping into Alice’s Restaurant is like being welcomed into a cherished neighborhood table where the rhythm slows just enough to savor familiar comforts. Nestled quietly on a stretch of Euclid Avenue in Canonsburg, this unpretentious spot blends the intimacy of a classic diner with the warmth of a family kitchen. The space is modest but inviting, revealing a pace that encourages slowing down—whether you’re settling in for an early morning meal or a casual midday bite.
The atmosphere hums gently with easy conversations and the soft clatter of plates, where greeting smiles feel as genuine as a hello across a kitchen counter. Here, hospitality isn’t just service—it’s a shared moment, a pause from the day to reconnect over food made to order with care. The dining experience unfolds with thoughtful touches: hearty breakfasts that fill the air with the scent of sizzling bacon and spiced vanilla batter from fresh French toast, and generous plates that balance nostalgic American favorites with a welcoming generosity of spirit.
The menu invites exploration without overwhelm, where comfort classics meet little surprises — fluffy pancakes, savory biscuits smothered in gravy, and the kind of home fries that are both crisp and tender, hinting at a kitchen that knows its way around simple ingredients. There’s a gentle pride here in serving food that brings everyone back, whether for a family gathering or a quiet solo visit, enhanced by a staff who remember names and details with a quiet attentiveness.
While parking might take a moment to figure out, and the cozy dining room often feels like it’s bursting with regulars as much as newcomers, these nuances only add to the authentic charm that defines Alice’s. It’s a place where the little things—a carefully arranged table for a large group, a chat with the owners, or the kindness in catering to a child’s order first—lilt beneath the overall sense of welcome. Here, connection and comfort come first, making it a rewarding discovery for anyone seeking more than just a meal, but a moment to feel genuinely at home in Canonsburg.

Small place , 10 of us showed up and they with a smile set up the table and were very gracious. Waitress was top notch putting in our grand kids orders first! Definitely going back there! Pancakes were really fluffy and all the food was made to order! Try it out if you haven't already.

Overall great experience. The food was good and there was plenty of it. Very hospitable patrons who let us sit with them when there was a wait. The place is small with a few tables but HUGE on everything important. (We even had Buffalo Bills gear on. :-) ) thank you for the wonderful food and service

With another couple, we like to go out for an occasional breakfast. Trying different places out as we go. This time, we ended up here. Our overall experience was positive, but I will start with the three, relatively minor, negative things we found which led to a four star, rather than five-star review. In no particular order they are: Parking – there are a few spaces next to the building, and a lot below the building. If you can snag a place next to the building, you’re in good shape. If you have mobility issues and cannot snag a space there, good luck. Cash only – that is what they are. They do offer an ATM if you found out about this policy when you arrived, or did not bring enough with you. Hash browns – they are not. What they serve is called shoestring fries in every other place I’ve been. While they are tasty, they are almost impossible to pick up with a fork and so you have to go the finger route. Now to the good stuff. The food is good and you get plenty of it. Another table ordered the pancakes and we were amazed at how big they were (that table took the majority of them home!). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We asked for some changes and they had no problems doing them. The place is small though so get there early, or at off times. Prices are very reasonable. The menu is quite extensive for a breakfast and lunch place and all the typical offerings are there. Our experience was very nice overall. They also have daily specials featured on a board outside and inside the restaurant.

Cute little diner off the main drag in Canonsburg. The quintessential home fries: perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and smooth and creamy inside, perfectly seasoned. The hot sausage is delicious and the bacon is also excellent. The fresh toast is perfect with lots of vanilla and cinnamon in the batter. Super affordable and kind service. They are cash only, so prepare in advance.

We had to stop on our way in from Cleveland for the Christmas market because our mom's name was Alice. I am so glad we did. It was a great experience. Our food was awesome and the staff were so friendly. We got to meet and talk to the owners. We wish them the best of luck and yes we stopped at the candy store before heading to the Christmas Market. And thanks for the directions to the parking lot.

While the outside doesn't look like much, the people are super friendly and the food was fresh and excellent. My wife had a fried chicken salad. The chicken was good and the lettuce and ingredients were all fresh. No wilted or brown lettuce at all. I had a cheeseburger with freshly cut fries. The fries were curly fries and they were good too, as was the burger. Really happy we stopped in.
